Shaken Faith and Shattered Hope

A woman of faith or man of faith. That is how one should describe you. Faith is the foundation of Christianity. You don’t get into heaven if you lack faith. Do you know why, because you can’t please God if you lack this attribute (Hebrews 11:6 NIV).
Everything you want to become in life it takes faith. As a Christian you need to believe the scriptures and trust that God is able to make a way.

When faith is absent, fear is present. There are many people who live a life full of fear. Afraid to fail, afraid to die, afraid to fall sick, afraid to lose a family member and the list goes on. I understand, life will not always be smooth. It is a bittersweet journey. But one thing that will help you endure is your faith in your heavenly Father. Once someone asked me: ‘what is that one thing you will never let go off in life?’ And my answer was simple: ‘’My faith in God’. It is that one thing that keeps me going. Whenever I’m fed up, whenever things are not going as planned and every time I feel like giving up; I hear my Heavenly Father whispering to me ‘just hold on a little longer’. I write this with watery eyes, because in my journey with Christ I have had a few times whereby I wanted to stop everything that I was doing for God due to the challenges and trials I was facing. To be very transparent and honest with you, I wanted to give up on the faith. I was disappointed because that one thing I was believing God for didn’t come to pass. So I started doubting the scriptures. Every time I forced myself to pray, tears would be flowing down my eyes. These moments were definitely one of the most difficult times in my life. But then I realized that God doesn’t always do what we want Him to do, but He does what is best. So you just need to accept it and trust Him. Eventhough it won’t always be an easy thing to do. When you feel like God is far away, that is when He is the closest to you.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all.”
Psalms 34:19 NKJV

When you truly believe psalms 34:19, you will not worry. Generally speaking, we worry too much. We think that it is our own responsibility to provide and take care of ourselves while God assures us that he will provide for us. Your relationship with God should be so intimate that you should feel confident to ask Him what you desire. If your earthly father can give you pleasant gifts, then how much more our Father in heaven. He has promised us that He will take care of us, it is up to you to believe it!

If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!
Luke 11:11-13 NKJV

Jesus couldn’t perform a lot of miracles in his home town Nazareth because the people lacked faith. Your faith determines how much you receive from God. Many are not walking in their full potential, because they lack faith. They belittle themselves and belittle the power of God. Because of this they are stagnant, I’m speaking out of experience. They don’t see progression because they are afraid to take that bold step of faith to start that business God has laid upon their heart. If Abraham did not go to that unknown land maybe he would have never become the father of nations.

I will end with this question: Do you REALLY have faith in God? That is all that matters. At the end of the day every believer should be known as: a man or woman of faith.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
II Timothy 4:7 NKJV
